Beginning of BiH League 8
So living in Siroki has been quite different the last couple months. Just the European culture alone is very different, but you throw in a tiny city on the line of bosnia and croatia in the mix and things can get extremely interesting. Although there is not much to do here, everybody has been welcoming and sensitive to the fact this is my first job in Europe. The days are very tough because we mostly practice 2x a day and sometimes lift weights as well. When I am not practicing or working out I am usually in my apartment with my feet up resting for whatever is next. I would have to say the most difficult adjustment since I have been here has been the food. I have not been able to follow my diet as I would like due to the lack of options. I eat a lot of cereal (special K). Due to the fact that I have not been able to eat as well as I would like to, I have found it to be important to make sure I am at least eating adequate amounts of food. So, at this point I am eating whatever I can get my hands on!! However, I do have to say that Siroki treats their players very well and they have done everything they said they would do before I got here. I have a very nice apartment, car, phone, etc. So there is no complaints as far as that. Enough about all that, on to some basketball.
We just wrapped up the regular season and we finished 4th among 15 teams in the league. However, since I have been here we have steadily moved up in the standings. We will begin the final 8 on Saturday. The way this works (pay attention) is the top 8 teams move on and the remaining teams' seasons are over. Each of the 8 teams will play the other remaining teams 2x each- home and away. We will play 2 games a week - Wednesday and Saturday. So, that is a total of 14 games. Following this, the 4 teams with the best records will move on to the final 4. It is to my understanding that in the final four each game will be a best of 3 series. That brings us to the Championship game which will also be a best of 3 series. Got it? All of this is confusing to me, so I am sure if your not familiar with the system it is a bit confusing, but I will be updating the blog regularly during this last stretch so everybody can keep up with me and Siroki Eronet.
